Dutch (Flemish), French and German are the official languages of the country. Everyone speaks English because it is a neutral language between all three language groups. I have also been speaking Spanish as well due to the many exchange students from the Americas and Spain. They are many languages spoken on campus as dozens of countries have students here.
The euro. Outside of Belgium, the euro is used in all countries that are members of the European Union.
A liter and a half of water costs about 1.50 euros. I typically use the sink water because it is clean and Belgium has very high taxes on plastic items.
This week I had Flemish stew, which consists of beef cooked in gravy with fries and a vegetable medley. It is one of the traditional dishes of the country. I also enjoy the waffles and fries served on the street here by vendors as they were invented in Belgium and locals take great pride in their traditions.
