Bus or Taxi? Getting Around in Jamaica

Because route taxis drive on the bus route, I still have to walk up my big hill when I get near home. Sometime if you pay extra, they take you to the door, but you ususally have four other angry people who also want to get home staring at you.

At night, I take a regular taxi. They are safe and take me home directly.

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

Because so many Jamaicans take the buses or taxis, it is part of the culture. You can travel the whole country by route taxi! I don't know if I will. That might be too much of an adventure! But having access to affordable public transportation makes it possible to experience all that this island and its people have to offer.
