The best meal this week was döner in Berlin. Döner is a type of kebab that was brought over to Germany by Turkish immigrants in the 1950s. Most döners are made with either lamb or chicken (there are also vegetarian options for those who don't eat meat), lettuce, tomatoes and other vegetables. The best part (at least, in my opinion) is the spicy chili sauce and the garlic sauce that is put on the bread of the döner.
There is a döner stand in Berlin called Mustafa's that is consistently rated as the best döner in all of Germany. Once, I waited three whole hours to eat a döner there! Luckily, when I went to Berlin this weekend, the line was short and I only had to wait 15 minutes. The döners at Mustafa's are on a whole new level. The bread is fluffier, the chicken is seasoned with bell peppers and other spices, the vegetables are fresher and they even include roasted root vegetables (zucchini, potatoes) in their döners. I dreamt of having this döner, and I finally got to eat it again this weekend!
This week, I listened to 6lack's new album, East Atlanta Love Letter. I am from Atlanta, and the album featured many rap artists from Atlanta and lyrics that are specific to Atlanta culture. It felt comforting to listen to the sounds of home while being so far away.
