Travel News

How far did I travel this week?:

I travelled to Ronda, Spain with students and staff in my program for a one-day excrusion. It is 185 km from Granada and took almost two and a half hours on a bus to get there.

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

Including my flight to begin this journey from the United States, I have travelled over 8,500 kilometers so far. The majority of this came from flying such a long way from Texas to Spain.

How did I get around this week?:

Granada is a small city so most people get to places by walking. I walk to and from class every day, which takes about 30 minutes each way from my apartment. For my weekend trips to go hiking and to visit Ronda, I rode in a bus.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

The most interesting place I visited this week was an Arab community bath from the 13th century. It was entirely built out of concrete almost 800 years ago and is still mostly intact. This bath was so interesting to visit because it was a way to learn, first hand, about a Muslim tradition that still exists today in Arab countries such as Morocco and Egypt.
