Spanish is the main language spoken in Granada and is the national language of Spain. Since many American college students study in Granada, English is spoken a lot as well. Because of Granada's Muslim history, Arabic is still spoken by many people living in the Albacin, an Arabic neighborhood that has been in Granada for over 700 years.
Since Spain is a member of the European Union, the money used here is the Euro which is currently worth about 81 cents (USD).
An average bottle of water costs about 1.5 Euros which equals about 2 U.S. dollars.
The best meal I ate this week was shrimp pasta that my host mom cooked for lunch one day. Because Granada is close to the Mediterranean Coast, seafood is a popular dish among locals.
