Our News

I went with some new friends from class to Harajuku, a town with cute and crazy shopping centers. We spent the whole day there looking at all the shops. We ended the day by going to an arcade and getting group pictures in a special Japanese photo booth called Purikura (Poo-ree-ku-ra).

What did I read this week?:

This week, I mostly read small bits of news as well as short passages for school. One short story for school was about a student just like me who was coming to a new university and was trying to find all the classes and cafeterias. It was funny to read about something that I had done recently.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

This week was the New Student Welcome for all the new students moving into the international student dorm. We played Bingo, Two Truths and a Lie and an introduction game. It was so much fun to play Bingo because all the numbers were in Japanese and everyone was trying to figure out if they had them.

Other news from this week:

This week was preparation for final exams and presentation in most of my classes. I have 10 classes, so it's hard to keep track of them all! Japanese university classes happen only once a week per class, so I only go to class ten times a week. However, classes are one and a half hours long each period! Everyone in the whole school has the same lunch period, so it’s crazy after second period ends at 12:30 p.m. Everyone is trying to get a seat in the cafeteria to eat their food before classes start again. This semester, I started cooking my own lunches so that I can have more time to study and relax during the lunch break.
