So Many Sheep!

Where does it live?:

The sheep generally live on farms.  Most Kiwis learn how to sheer sheep when they are quite young. The animals tend to thrive on the well-watered landscapes of the North Island where grass grows abundantly, but there are also sheep farms on the South Island as well.

How does it use its environment to survive?:

The sheep graze on grass for food. They naturally follow each other in flocks. Grassland is common in New Zealand, and since there are no wolves or other predators, the sheep can survive comfortably here.

What can harm this creature or plant? Are we worried about it?:

Captain Cook brought sheep over to New Zealand during his second voyage in 1773.  Since then sheep have played an important role in the economy and diet of Kiwis. Fortunately there are no natural predators that can kill the sheep so we don't need to worry very much about sheep survival in New Zealand!
