Our News

This is a comforting song because it reminds me of the friends I have at home, as well as the new friends I am currently meeting in New Zealand.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

I have joined a new research lab that studies the emotions through the discipline of cognitive neuroscience. At our first lab meeting, we talked about our goals and learning objectives for the semester. The lab meeting was followed by dinner at a local restaurant, where I talked to other lab members and listened to their stories.

What did I read this week?:

I read the university magazine, Salient, to learn about local New Zealand news, campus news, opinion pieces, and astrology. My favorite column is a dream-reading column. The author explains the meaning of a dream that a reader has submitted.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

I played sudoku, a logic based number puzzle to pass time in between classes. This game was part of the magazine I was reading.

Other news from this week:

I participated in a world-wide conference called Women in Data Science. The day was full of interesting talks designed to empower women working in data science or related technology fields.
