Getting to Know a Local

Introduction:

My counterpart, Toma, is the main person that I work with every day at school. She translates a lot for me, and we teach every class together. She has become my best friend in town. Today I asked her a few questions about her life in our town, Radomyshl.

What is your full name?:

Hi! My full name is Tamara Sachenko, but everyone calls me Toma.

Where do you live? What is your house like?:

I live in Radomyshl in an apartment, but spend a lot of time at my mom's house. My apartment has two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom. But the coolest thing about my apartment building is the friendly cats and dogs that live in the hallways. Everyone always leaves food and blankets out for them.

What is your family like?:

I have a husband, Jenya, and a daughter named Nika. I also have a younger sibling named Vlada (who's having a baby!). Everyone - my parents, grandparents, cousins - are very close and we spend a lot of time together.

How do you get around?:

I have a car. I don't really like the marshrutka (local shared taxi) because it's really small and crowded so I try to avoid it. I like to drive better.

What types of clothing do you like to wear?:

Like most Ukrainian girls, we like to stay updated with local fashion trends.
