Getting to Know a Local

We always look at Instagram to see what locals in other countries are wearing and like to dress up. I prefer sweaters, dresses and heels. Usually, Ukrainian boys prefer sweatpants, joggers or t-shirts, but girls like getting fancy, doing their hair and wearing makeup. We wear braids in our hair a lot.

What do you like to do in your free time?:

I like to drive around the countryside because it's peaceful. Often, I will buy a coffee and drive out near the river or the park. It's really pretty at sunset.

What language(s) do you speak? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

I speak Ukrainian, Russian, English and a little German. Ukrainians greet each other by saying "Good day," which is Добри день (Dobre Den) in Ukrainian and Здравствуйте (Zdravstvuyte) in Russian. Everyone here understands both equally.

Do you have pets?:

No, I don;t have any pets right now. I had my friend Tori's puppy Dima when he was really small, but she adopted him from me.

Have you traveled? Where have you traveled to?:

I have traveled to Russia to see family when I was really little. I dream of going to America one day.

What do you do for work?:

I'm an English teacher with Tori at our local school "Taras Shevchenko Liceum #1." Most Ukrainian schools are called liceums, and the big ones are called gymnasiums
