There are times when we meet obstacles that are difficult to overcome, but for me, the challenge is part of the excitement. It also give us an opportunity to do things differently, including making ocean exploration greener, more efficient and safer. My job is not only exciting and character-building, but it is extremely rewarding. At the end of the day, what we are building will protect our oceans and the marine life that inhabits them.
Being able to travel to remote places around the world is an honor, and working with people from all over the world has helped me realize that humans—together with robots—are capable of amazing things. Being passionate is a huge part of being able to explore the world. Passion will take you to places that you never imagined possible… it certainly did for me!
This virtual exchange will introduce you to the wonderful, exciting and fascinating world of marine robotics and ocean exploration. We know less about our oceans than we do about Mars, but we hope that through the use of robotics, we can continue to expand our knowledge of the global oceans and what lies beneath them!
