Une Interview Avec Mon Professeur

What do you like to do in your free time?:

I love to play pétanque. Pétanque is a game played with steel balls and a piglet, or the goal. The goal is to get your balls closer to the piglet than your opponents. Once you reach 13 points, you win the game. A lot of French people play this, as it's a cultural game.

I also love to hike in the mountains.

What language(s) do you speak? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

I speak French (français), a bit of English (anglais), and German (allemand). In German, to say "Hello" is "Hallo". In French, we say "Bonjour."

Do you have pets?:

I have a large female dog, who is three years old. Her breed is a Beauceron.(He showed me a picture of his dog as his phone's screen saver).

Have you traveled? Where have you traveled to?:

Actually, I lived in Austria for fourteen years. This is why I speak German. When I lived there, I visited all the countries nearby. To name a few, I visited Slovakia, Germany, the Czech Republic, etc. I would travel every weekend!

What do you do for work?:

I am a French professor, and also a linguistics researcher.

Is there anything else you would like to say to students in the United States?:

"Etudiez en France, c'est un formidable opportunité pour découvrir une nouvelle culture et apprendre une nouvelle langue tout en vivant dans un espace cultural exceptionnel."

Translation: "Study in France! It's a fantastic opportunity to discover a new culture and learn a new language while living in an exceptional cultural environment."
