This week, I traveled to Köln and Heidelberg. That's 543 kilometers round trip, or 337 miles!
So far, I have visited five different cities in Germany, and have traveled a total of 1,500 miles!
Lately, my travel has involved a lot of long-distance buses, which are called Fernbusse in German. This is a great way to travel on a budget, although the journey can sometimes be a lot longer than on a train or plane.
I loved visiting Heidelberg! It has a very cool mixture of the old and the new. The city itself is over 700 years old, and there is a beautiful castle overlooking the Neckar River. However, it is also a university town, so there are a lot of university buildings and shopping malls near the city center.
One of the best ways to explore new cities is to visit with friends! Most German regional transportation will offer a Gruppenkarte, or group card, option, which allows up to five people to travel on the same ticket. This makes the journey a lot more affordable for everyone, and you can make amazing memories with your friends!
