German is the main language spoken in Germany. This week, I learned that German is also an official language in Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Lichtenstein!
Germany uses the euro. The euro is stronger than the American dollar, which means that it is worth more. Right now, one euro is worth about $1.14.
A bottle of water costs about $1.14. Look out for what kind of water you are getting, though. Many Germans prefer sparkling water to still water, so you have to read the labels carefully! Kohlensäure is the German word for carbonation, which means the water is sparkling.
The best meals are the ones you have with friends. Over the weekend, a few friends and I made homemade Flammkuchen together. It is like a very thin pizza with a creamy cheese base rather than tomato sauce.
