This week, I traveled to experience cultural events in other towns outside the village. I bused there and back with students from my school, other schools, as well as with staff and parents. This trip totalled around 250 miles. I would add a few miles onto that to account for my daily commutes.
I am about 1,800 miles from home. It took around 2,400 miles of flying to get here. I have taken the bus around the country as well. Though it is a small country, I would add a few hundred miles onto my total mileage in my journey.
My back has been feeling all those hours of busing this week. Here, bus companies and charter buses use retired school buses that are often from the United States. Other than busing, I also biked all around the village. The main road is paved, which makes it easy for biking, but the other side streets are rocky dirt roads. Those roads don’t feel so great to bike on: it is like biking on the surface of the moon.
