In Japan, after New Years, many stores close so the workers can go visit shrines and start the year off with a blessing. I did not know that, so when I wanted to go see an old Japanese castle, I could not because it was closed. I ended up in a small town, Omanchi, where I went to the top of a hill to take pictures. So it was still a successful day of doing things, just not what I had expected.
