These scholarships are the Posse Scholarship, which acknowledges merit and leadership, and the Gilman Scholarship, which provides financial assistance for educational goals.
Growing up, I learned to always be curious, and doing that made me work harder. With these two scholarships, asking for help whenever I could, and being a first-generation student, I became the first person in my family to study abroad and made lifelong friendships and memories.
I want to share a quote from my mother that I hope you can take with you when you have to make decisions in life: “Whoever wants can! (El que quiere, puede!)”
That is why I thank you students and Ms. Kim for the opportunity to share my story beyond my community. I hope this has given each one of you inspiration to go beyond! Also, thank you for all the amazing questions you've asked. I think they are even better than what adults ask me! I loved that I shared this experience with you and I can't wait to hear where each of you go in the future!
