A Teen's Typical Day in Puebla

Introduction:

For this field note, I interviewed a 16-year-old boy from Puebla. The interview was conducted in English, so it has been edited for grammar and clarity. He hopes his answers are cool in the United States!

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

For breakfast, I buy a torta (sandwich) with orange juice. For lunch, my mom always surprises me. Today, it might be leftover mole (a sweet and spicy sauce). I think that for dinner tonight, I will eat toasted bread with milk. Normally we eat a lot of breakfast, a medium meal in the afternoon and a little meal at night.

What is your house like?:

My house is big. Upstairs there are three bedrooms, a bathroom and a living room. Downstairs there is a homework room, a kitchen, my mom's office and another bathroom.

What chores do you have at home?:

I sweep, pick up my room and wash dishes, depending on the day of the week.

What jobs do your parents have?:

My mom is an accountant. My father is a chef. He has a restaurant and makes cemitas (sandwiches).

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

School starts at 7:00 AM and I leave at 2:00 PM. I take the bus and arrive home at 3:00 PM.
