A Taste of Culture

Introduction:

Food is one of those things that can instantly change your mood or take you somewhere else in your mind. Some meals feel warm and familiar, while others feel exciting and new, like a small adventure waiting to happen. Every culture has its own way of cooking, and every dish has its own personality. All it takes is one bite to start exploring a whole new place.

What food did I try?:

This week was full of delicious food! While I was in Madrid, I ate Puerto Rican food with my family, which is part of my culture. I also tried a diavola pizza, which is a spicy salami Italian pizza. Then, when I visited Rome, I got to eat fettuccine: one of the most famous Italian pasta dishes.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

Eating Puerto Rican food made me feel really happy and at home. Even though I was far away, the flavors reminded me of my culture and family traditions.

The diavola pizza was super exciting because it had a spicy kick! It was a little different from regular pizza, and I liked how bold the flavors were. At this restaurant, they served pizza as big as my head! I got to share it with my brother and sister, and eating it with my family made it even better!

Trying fettuccine in Rome was amazing. It felt really cool to eat a traditional Italian dish in the place it comes from.
