My Autobiography

As part of my art history degree, I am required to take some studio art classes also. Taking classes like ceramics and drawing has given me an even deeper appreciation for the art that I study and has allowed me to explore my own creativity. I even get to take a drawing and painting class in France! After I graduate with my Bachelor’s Degree at the end of this school year, I hope to continue on to get my Master’s Degree and eventually a PhD in art history so that I can become an art history professor.

I decided to study abroad in France for three main reasons: I took French in high school and loved learning the language; I am excited about the opportunity to study French artistic movements and visit their museums; and I want to explore France’s amazing mountains and beaches. I am living in the South of France in a region called Provence, which means I am only thirty minutes away from the Mediterranean Sea and about a three hour train ride from Paris. I have never lived in a town as small and walkable as Aix-en-Provence before, and one of the things I am most looking forward to is making some local friends and learning my way around. While many people are able to speak and understand English in France, I am pushing myself every day to practice my French language skills and move away from the comfort of using English.
