Exploring Madrid

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

Spain is known for a variety of things: flamenco music and dance, sunshine, bullfights, nightlife and food. Because people are constantly on the move, the extensive public transportation is a reliable way to get around. Spain's schedule is much different than the United States. School starts around 9 A.M. and ends around 2:30 P.M. People eat lunch between 2:00-3:00 P.M. and dinner between 8:30 and 10:00 P.M. Between the hours of 2 P.M. and 5 P.M. many stores and businesses have siesta time, which is supposed to be a break to allow workers to nap. The public transportation runs during all of these times to allow people to travel home for a siesta or out for a late night dinner. Also, Madrid is a very populated city. The public transportation systrems allow for more housing options and less cars, which is very good for the environment.
