Even though English is broadly used, Wales is one of the only regions in the United Kingdom where its native language, Welsh, still dominates. While people in the city Cardiff mainly speak English, the closer you get to the countryside, you will only hear Welsh!
Wales uses British pounds. The coins are much heavier, and instead of cents, they call them pence. The paper pounds are gorgeously detailed, and even have a translucent section. They depict images of the King and Queen.
A bottle of water on average would cost 30p, otherwise known as 30 pence. (This is similar to 30 cents).
Since I live in an apartment with a kitchen, I tend to cook a lot. But when I do go groccery shopping, I always pick up a pack of biscuits to have with my tea. It's the best part of my morning, being cooped up in the library reading, with some buttery biscuits.
