Hi exchange partner! My name is Sky Edward and I am studying abroad in Accra, Ghana with New York University. Over the next three months, I will share all of the new things I'll learn while living in this country.
At my home campus in New York City, I study drama, meaning I take a lot of acting, directing, and playwriting classes. I am interested in how performing arts can be a vessel for activism, and for spreading messages of positivity and hope.
In Ghana I will be taking an African Women’s Playwright class and exploring the difference between performance in New York City and community theater in Ghana. I'll also take a Twi class, one of the most commonly spoken languages in Ghana. So I will share many of the new words I learn!
My school has a lot of fun field trips around the city planned for me and my cohort. I will explore this city, learn about its culture and customs and how Ghanaian artists spread hopeful messages through their art, and tell you guys all about it!
