This menu del dia featured pote asturiano, which is a traditional Asturian chestnut stew. The main course was delicious stuffed peppers and for dessert, we had a creamy arroz con leche (Spanish rice pudding), with hints of cinnamon and lemon. It was a hearty lunch that filled us up after our hike!
I still listen to lots of music in English because it reminds me of home. I spent the week listening to lots of Chris Stapleton and some Olivia Dean, and I had the song "Carolina In My Mind," by James Taylor on repeat!
On Thursday night, my roommate, Avery, and I hosted a dinner party for our friends. Avery made green chili and I made a salad and an apple crisp. We squished 11 people into our small, two-bedroom apartment, and we had a great time catching up!
I am currently reading The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt.
This week, I met with my friends to play a fun round of Bananagrams. It's a game similar to Scrabble, but with more freedom and creativity. Another favorite game here is 20 Questions: Celebrity Edition. We spend many bus rides trying to guess the famous person in less than 20 questions.
I spent the week teaching my students about the American school system. It was so cool to compare my own experience in public school to the Spanish public school system. There are a few big differences between schools in each of our countries.
