Sharing Small Plates: My Delicious Tapas Adventure in Spain

My absolute favorite savory bite in Spain so far has been lomo Ibérico (cured pork loin) paired with Arzúa cheese (a super creamy cheese from northern Spain)!

I also discovered Spain’s incredible sweet treats and bakeries! I tried traditional Spanish churros, which are long, crispy, and served plain (not coated in cinnamon sugar like in the US). You dip them into thick, hot chocolate! I also tried fresh local pastries and slices of Spanish cheesecake, which is super creamy and baked with a caramelized top.

On top of all that, I ate some non-Spanish foods this week, like Indian, Japanese, and Mexican food. Spain’s cities have incredible meals from all over the world, showing us how food brings different cultures together!

How did I feel when I tried it?:

I am a very adventurous eater, I always feel excited to try new foods! When I first tried Iberico, which is cured meats and hams, I was pleasantly surprised and wanted to try all the different types. I also love how many different varieties of tapas there are whenever I want to order. It feels nice to try all the different tapas because they’re so small, so I can sample a little bit of everything!

Trying my first bite of lomo Ibérico with Arzúa cheese was an amazing surprise! The salty, savory meat combined with the smooth, creamy cheese created a flavor I had never tasted before. I absolutely adore sweet treats and desserts, so dipping warm churros into hot chocolate and trying creamy Spanish cheesecake was the best experience ever.
