Meet Hope

Introduction:

Hope is a seven-year-old from Lilongwe, Malawi. He lives with his parents and sister, Esther. Both of his parents are nurses at the place where I work! I am so thankful to Hope for answering all of my questions. (His answers are below, but the words in parentheses are mine!) He told me he got up before six this morning because he was so excited about being interviewed!

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

For breakfast, I eat bread. For lunch, I have rice or chips. (Chips here are potato wedges). For dinner, I eat the same plus chicken. My dad loves to cook, so we eat good food.

What is your house like?:

We have two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a veranda (porch). I will show you pictures.

What chores do you have at home?:

I wash dishes after every meal and wash my clothes. My parents buy the food and cook it.

What jobs do your parents have?:

My mom and my dad are both nurses. My dad also is a part-time pastor.

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

School starts at 7 am, and we go home at 3 pm.

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

I take a school bus. The private schools have school buses. My dad walks me to the road where I get on the bus.
