Chimarrão, a Daily Tradition

Even during an academic presentation, students may sit in the auditorium passing a warm cuia filled with chimarrão to their friends. Drinking chimarrão is a way for people to show their southern gaúcho culture and slow down to talk to each other.

Is this tradition connected to its environment? How?:

People may drink different kinds of chimarrão depending on the weather. In the winter, drinking chimarrão all day keeps you warm inside. In the hot summer, many people still drink hot chimarrão. Other people choose a cold version called tereré. Instead of hot water, this kind of chimarrão uses cold fruit juice. It is delicious too!
