I traveled 10 hours by train (five hours each way) in one day in order to go on my hike! I also managed to hit my highest step count in a few months, taking 25,967 steps on the day of my hike.
367 miles! My longest trip was from Geneva to Munich, Germany (did you know that Munich was founded by beer brewing monks?). I took a 10-hour FlixBus, which are the budget travel buses, across Switzerland and into Germany to visit. Though, by the time you’re reading this, I will most likely be in Dublin, Ireland or possibly Plymouth, UK, so my travel distance is rapidly increasing!
Public transit! While I am technically allowed to drive here, public transit is so accessible and intuitive that it would not be worth it. In Geneva, I use a Transports Publics Genevois (TPG) Pass that allows me to use any method of transportation within the city -- including rail, trams, buses and even the water taxis! Sometimes, I take the water taxi to the other side of the city just because I enjoy having an excuse to travel by boat. I also have a youth night pass, which is a popular discounted rate on national railways for young people in Switzerland. With this card, you make a one time payment of 99chf and can take any mode of transportation in the entire country completely for free as long as you ride between 7:00 p.m.
