Our News

What did I read this week?:

I read a series of human rights reports for my internship this week, including a human rights report on Iran and another on Slovakia. The company that I work for is in the arts, so many of these human rights reports focus on the state of freedom of speech and expression in each country that a report is written about. For class, I’ve recently read a series of case law and advisory opinions from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) detailing their stance on states using force against non-state actors in relation to the Palestinian Genocide. My class is a Public International Law class that involves working closely with case law from international courts and organizations to substantiate our ideas. I have not had a chance to read for pleasure since I arrived, but I have been finding the reading that I do for work and class very interesting.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

I'm not sure if this counts as a game, but the people in my program really enjoy karaoke. We have a karaoke machine in our apartment complex that has been used almost every weekend!

Other news from this week:

I feel like food goes bad faster here than in the U.S. My jam molded while in the fridge this week which really shocked me! Though, some of the people on my floor have said that they haven't noticed a difference between how long products last here in comparison to the U.S.
