Ahoj (Hello)! My name is Ryan Comley, and I am originally from Charlotte, North Carolina. Growing up in Charlotte, I spent much of my time outdoors and especially loved visiting the Appalachian Mountains, one of the world’s oldest ranges, even older than the rings of Jupiter. In Charlotte, I studied classical percussion at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where I developed both a love for performance and a deep appreciation for music’s ability to bring people together.
After completing my degree, I moved west to Knoxville, Tennessee, to pursue a master’s degree in jazz. While in Knoxville, I not only immersed myself in music but also discovered my passion for teaching. The experience of working with students and sharing knowledge became one of the most rewarding parts of my life, ultimately inspiring me to continue my teaching journey abroad.
That journey has now brought me to the Czech Republic, where I live in Trutnov, a town nestled in the mountains and known for its rich Bohemian history. Here in Czechia, I am thrilled to share my love for the English language, Tennessee Volunteer football, and jazz with my students and the wider community. Just as importantly, I am eager to learn from the people around me, their traditions, stories, and the places they hold most dear.
