Recycling on Jeju Island

Introduction:

Students in South Korea are told to recycle when they can. Students are supposed to recycle anything that is plastic or paper. There are special bins at Ara Middle School, where I work, for each type of recyclable material. However, I have seen many of my students place plastic bottles and paper in the regular trash! I need to figure out a way to get my students to recycle more!

What community need did I learn about?:

I learned about the recycling efforts that are happening at my middle school. Some of my students want to start a recycling campaign to get their fellow students to recycle more often. The problem is that my students don't know how to get started with the campaign.

Why does the community have this need?:

The school community has this need because they want to keep the environment healthy and clean. Most Jeju Island residents think that keeping nature clean is very important. There is also a need to keep the school clean. Students here are in charge of cleaning the school and taking out the garbage.

Is this need being met? How?:

The recycling need at our middle school is not being met. The students that are starting the recycling campaign and I need your help! How can I show my students that recycling is important for the environment and their school to convince them to put in more effort and recycle more often?
