Traveler Bio

Hallo (Hello)! My name is Rachel Maccini, and I am 22 years old. I grew up in Massachusetts, where I loved spending time with friends, doing competitive cheerleading, and exploring local towns, cities, and beaches. For college, I left home and moved to North Carolina to attend Elon University, where I studied Special Education and Middle Grades Mathematics. During my four years in college, I also developed a passion for languages and studied German, which inspired me to apply for a U.S. Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship. I was very fortunate to receive a grant and begin this exciting journey!

Currently, I am living in Bonn, Germany, where I teach English to German students. In the classroom, I share American culture and answer all of their questions about life and language in the United States. When I’m not teaching, I love traveling to different cities, visiting historic sites, and trying traditional German foods. I’m also working hard to improve my German every day, whether it’s ordering at a bakery, chatting with locals, or practicing with friends. I am so excited to bring you along on this journey, show you what life in Germany is like, and hear about your own adventures this year!
