One skill I had to learn when entering high school, university, and now in the "real world" was how to move with confidence in my community. Sometimes even walking into a store or restaurant alone felt like a hurdle; maybe that is a problem that was (and sometimes still is) unique to me, but having a goal and grounding for why I was needed gave me the confidence to be more bold and comfortable "adulting" in my day-to-day.

4. Preparing Classroom Materials

This may be one of the more obvious ways in which I use more "graphic design" skills, but designing layouts and selecting the best pictures to use also plays a role in how I prepare the materials I use in the lessons I teach. Between PowerPoint presentations and creating worksheets, I try to find a balance between good presentation of information and aesthetics. When looking over student work, editing skills also help with giving precise feedback.
