It has been a joy to share part of my journey this year with you all. I still have three months left per my grant period, and have recently applied to extend it through the German government for another year. It will be some time (probably about two more months) before I am informed of their decision, but I remain optimistic about the future.

Another development in my application process is that I have received recognition of my bachelor's degree here in Germany, which opens many new pathways, whether I would like to find a job or continue my studies here towards a master's degree. I will also need to take a language proficiency exam to prove my German fluency, but still have time to study and prepare for it. There are many steps to take when looking to live abroad, but by taking them one at a time, I am learning to be more patient and enjoy the process as it unfolds.

We have covered many topics together from living and studying abroad to the accessibility of travel within Europe. I want to again extend my recommendation for keeping options open and seeking out opportunities to expand and explore the world. When we experience life outside of our own communities—whether that means travelling to Cleveland or Chemnitz—we deepen our understanding of not only the world, but of ourselves and our role within it.
