There are some unspoken shared rules, such as not being too loud, speaking very quietly on the phone or not taking calls at all and respecting other passenger’s personal space by maintaining distance, if possible.
It is also very common to bond over complaining about train delays, which is a topic that never stops coming up in conversation. In public, I have overheard many people sharing their experiences and frustration over the delays.
