Winter in the Azores is often rainy, but this week we were lucky to have some sunny days! Locals often joke that you can experience all four seasons in one day on the islands.
This week I saw lots of cats all around the islands! The locals feed and care for them, so cats are a common sight in the Azores.
The coolest thing I saw in nature this week was Sete Cidades, a huge volcanic crater with two lakes inside--one blue one and one green one. It’s one of the most amazing and beautiful places in the Azores! Legend says the blue and green lakes of Sete Cidades were formed from the tears of two friends, a princess with blue eyes and a shepherd with green eyes, who were sad to say goodbye to each other. Their tears became the two lakes.
