Travel News

I hope to continue exploring other countries, with Italy at the top of my list, while also discovering more of Germany, especially Berlin, which I couldn't leave without visiting.

How did I get around this week?:

I got around how I normally do by taking the tram or bus. When I first got here, I bought a Deutschlandticket subscription, which costs €65 a month. With it, I can use almost all regional public transportation, which I think is an absolute steal. This is how I am able to travel around Germany consistently because, no matter where in Germany I am, I can still use public transportation there with the Deutschlandticket. The only trains I’m not allowed to take are Intercity Express (ICE) trains. These are high speed trains designed for long distance travel and are one of the main options for getting between cities quickly. Although they get you to your destination much faster, they are also considerably more expensive, which is why I’ve only used them a handful of times

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

I think the most interesting place I visited this week was Cologne, Germany. I saw the cathedral that Cologne is known for, and it was architecturally perfect. I was breathless when I saw it. I also went to a couple of pubs, a restaurant, a biosphere and a nature trail. At the end of the night, I looked over the bridge and took in the view of the whole city across the river. As the wind blew, the sun set and it began to sprinkle, it was a beautiful way to end the night.
