I think the coolest thing I saw in nature this week was when I was hiking in the mountains near Hausach. I stumbled upon a cabin that looked completely abandoned. The windows were cracked, the wooden walls were unkempt and dirty and grass was growing along the sides of the building. My wild imagination immediately went to the idea that a witch lived there because, honestly, why would there be a random abandoned cabin in the mountains and I watch an ungodly amount of horror movies. However, as I walked past, I was able to look through the windows and discovered that it was actually an apiary (a bee shed). I’m not sure why it was there, but it was definitely a very interesting find.
In Hausach, I also discovered a castle tower overlooking the entire city. Inside, there were relics from the medieval era, including a suit of armor, a small cannon, a shield and paintings. I climbed the stairs to the top of the tower and spent a good ten minutes simply taking in the view.
