How does climate change impact your community?
I have been reading Lessons in Chemistry. It has been a nice, easy read to help me wind down before bed. Has anyone else read it? What genres of books do you all like to read? I loved dystopian series all throughout middle and high school, and also got into memoirs such as Educated during high school. After a long day of speaking in Spanish at work and with my host family, it’s nice to decompress with some English reading before I go to bed. This helps me recharge and prepare to speak Spanish the next day.
I have started practicing with the women's basketball team in my town! I love practices because there is such an age range from high schoolers to middle-aged women, and I love the empowering sense of community. Lately, though, I have been focusing on running because I am training for a half-marathon in Antigua in April. The aldea (small community) in which I typically run is incredibly beautiful and green. I love starting my day with sunshine on my face.
This week we had a desfile (walk) through the town center with posters and messages against violence against children. My two site-mates (other Peace Corps volunteers) were in attendance as well. It is always nice to see them at events and catch up for a little while.
