Most of my reading as of late consists of research articles, but, on the side, I have been slowly getting through the French translation of Carrie by Stephen King during my spare time. I enjoy reading the French translations of stories I already know, and I find I am more motivated to read this way.
I have been going running a few times a week! This allows me to explore the city bit-by-bit. The other day, I just so happened to run past the Bastide du Jas de Bouffan, a country house owned by the famous impressionist painter Paul Cezanne.
The Solid'Am association of Aix-en-Provence just opened the city's first solidarity grocery store for students, where food and hygiene products are sold at heavily discounted prices. This is a huge step for our school and will help combat poverty on campus.
Also, Senegal's men's soccer team recently won the Africa Cup of Nations! My Senegalese roommate was ecstatic. The last few games of the cup took over Marseille, where I joined my friends at a restaurant to watch Nigeria vs. Algeria.
