Parisians and Their Environment

Introduction:

Paris is different from many places you may be used to and is also much smaller than a lot of major cities. Still, the way Parisians interact with their environment is unmistakably Parisian!

What makes this environment special or different?:

The environment of Paris is special for many reasons, most notably because of its deep history. In addition, there are hills where you can see for miles and there are even parks with waterfalls which only locals know about.

What parts of this environment help people to live here?:

The Seine River is a crucial part of the Parisian environment. It divides the city in half, rive gauche (left bank) and rive droite (right bank). Paris as a city has a small footprint because of the way everything is tightly packed together which makes it easy to get around.

What challenges do people face living in this environment?:

There aren't very many green spaces in Paris simply because it is such a compact city. Instead, people have to go to a garden (un jardin) to be closer to nature. Luckily, there are many gardens around the city.
