A Taste of Jordan

Introduction:

Marhaba(hello)! Today, I'm excited to share with you some of the delicious Jordanian dishes I've tried!

What food did I try?:

During my time here, I've been able to try various Jordanian dishes. Mansaf (Jordan's national dish), is made with lamb, rice, shrak bread (a thin, unleavened flatbread), and jameed sauce (fermented yogurt). I've also tried:

  • maqluba (rice, vegetable and meat dish flipped upside down)
  • falafel (deep-fried balls made from ground chickpeas or fava beans seasoned with herbs and spices)
  • hummus (creamy dip made from blended chickpeas, tahini, lemon, garlic and olive oil)
  • shawarma (thin slices of seasoned meat cooked on a vertical rotisserie and served in a wrap)
  • kofta (type of meatball)
  • tabbouleh (parsley salad with tomatoes and lemon)
  • kanafeh (popular Middle Eastern dessert with a crunchy crust, cheese and sweet syrup)
How did I feel when I tried it?:

The food was delicious! Trying it, especially the meals cooked by people I know, was really heartwarming.
