A Day in the Life - Huanchaco Edition

Introduction:

Living in Huanchaco, Peru has given me the opportunity to experience both medical work and daily life in a new culture. In this article, I talk about my time working in local healthcare and living with my wonderful host family. You’ll also get a glimpse into how I spend my time outside of work.

What is your full name?:

Hello! My name is Nicole Mendoza Quinonez but I like going but Nicky.

Where do you live? What is your house like?:

Huachaco, Peru has been my home for the past month and I will continue to call it home until late April! It's a large seven floor house with a family of eight living it in! The house is simliar to an apartment complex. I have my own bedroom and bathroom. They welcome travelers all around the world into their home!

What is your family like?:

My host family is absolutely wonderful. They are so sweet and kind, and I feel very grateful to be staying with them. In the home live the owners, Patty and Manuel, along with their two daughters, their spouses and three little kids. It is a loud, crazy and fun household.

How do you get around?:

I work every day, but sometimes my location changes. Most days I work in the health clinic, and other days I am at the hospital. On most days when I go to the clinic, I take the micro, which is the bus.
