Our coldest stretch of winter was in mid-January. Since then, the weather has been steadily warming, from lows around -40°F to somewhere between -10°F and 10°F most days. Even so, I’ll probably keep wearing my heavy, ankle-length winter coat until April.
This week, temperatures ranged from about -20°F at night to as warm as 16°F during the day, which is much warmer than I expected for February! Most days have been bright and sunny with clear blue skies, except for one snowy night that left us with a beautiful white blanket the next morning.
Luckily for me, this week I had a guest visiting from the U.S. She’s also a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in South Korea and stopped in Mongolia before heading back to teach. I took her out to the Mongolian countryside, where we saw yaks, camels, horses, bankhar dogs and even a few cats roaming around. We even had the chance to ride yaks, camels and horses!
