They flock to this specific spot in the mountains by my house to sip nectar from all the wildflowers that bloom all around – it’s absolutely magical.

What was the coolest thing I saw in nature this week?:

On Wednesday, I took a friend who was visiting to the cave of Huagapo, which so happens to be the deepest cave in South America! The cave remains a mystery to scientists – they still haven’t reached the end. This is because after a few miles in, you need scuba gear to trek into the cave and there are parts of the cave that are entirely underwater and parts where the opening is only 30 cm wide. To this day, no one knows where the water comes from. It’s a fascinating enigmatic natural wonder to visit.

Left without work for months, the fishermen are saying the original compensation they got from the company wasn’t enough to cover the months without income or replacing damaged gear. Petroperu has a long track record of environmental harm across the country, accumulating more than $100 million in fines. You can read the whole story here
