Barcelona is a vibrant city with lots of life and creativity. The city also has a slower pace of life than I'm used to. I've realized that Europe, in general, has a more laid-back lifestyle than the United States does. In addition, unlike Boston or New York, Barcelona doesn’t have huge skyscrapers or other tall buildings. Instead, it’s made up of many smaller buildings and different neighborhoods that sometimes make it feel like I'm not even in a city. From older areas like the Gothic Quarter (made up of a lot of old Gothic-style buildings and beautiful structures) to green, blossoming parks, Barcelona is a very clean and diverse city with lots to see and do!
My daily life here changes a lot each week, but I do have some routines. On Mondays and Wednesdays, I leave for university at 8:00 a.m. and take the metro with my friends. I stay on campus until 6:20 p.m., with small breaks throughout the day when I grab a coffee from a local cafe and chat with friends in our courtyard or catch up on homework. After I take the metro back to my apartment from school, I typically make dinner and either watch a show with my roommates or go out into the city. On Tuesdays, I have class from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
