Exploring Rome

The Trevi Fountain, the largest fountain in the city. The origins of the fountain go back to 19 BCE. This place was so packed with people that it was hard to walk through it!
The Crypt of the Monks, which is a sacred place with the skeletal remains of around 3,700 to 4,000 Capuchin friars (members of a Roman Catholic men's religious order) arranged to decorate the walls and ceilings as a reminder of mortality
This picture was taken outside of the Colosseum before I went in
Inside of the Colosseum, this area is called the arena, where gladiatorial combats and other events took place. All of the tunnels below the arena are where they used to keep enslaved persons, fighters and animals before they entered the arena
The Roman Forum, which is a rectangular area surrounded by the ruins of important ancient government, religious and commercial buildings in the center of the city
This is the front of the Santa Maria Antiqua Church, which is a Catholic Marian church (i.e., church dedicated to Mary) built in the fifth century in the Roman Forum
Here I was at the Monument to Victor Emmanuel II, a symbol of Italian unity and national pride built to honor King Victor Emmanuel II, who was the first king of a unified Italy
A street we were walking down in the Trastevere neighborhood of Rome, near some cute cafes!
