Another favorite that comes in a close second was breakfast in Porto, Portugal, where I ate fluffy blueberry pancakes with syrup and butter alongside the best coffee I have ever tasted! I don't even usually like coffee!
I listened to a lot of calm and relaxing music to pass the time on long travel days spent on trains, planes, and buses between cities.
The most exciting activity was exploring the cities of Portugal! I loved walking around to find local bakeries, small coffee shops, and family-owned businesses. I also loved admiring the beautiful, colorful tiles on the walls of buildings throughout Portugal. These tiles are a huge part of Portuguese culture due to history, weather protection, and art! Learning to surf with friends in Galicia and sharing a hostel room with seven other travelers was also a really fun bonding experience.
I am currently reading The Little Prince (El Principito) in Spanish! Reading books in a language you are trying to learn is one of the best ways to practice, learn new vocabulary, and retain what you study.
I didn't play any traditional team sports, but I stayed very active by going to the gym, walking miles around Portuguese cities, and going surfing in Galicia, Spain! Surfing is an intense full-body workout because you have to use all your muscles to balance and paddle!
