In order to feel more at home in Belgium, I have tried my best to explore the city and try out new things. I usually have the most time to explore during the weekends. During the week, I have classes and an internship at the Embassy of the Dominican Republic. If it's not raining outside, I like to walk through the city center because there are always a lot of people to meet and stores to shop at. Sometimes when I am walking through the city center, I will see people performing on the street or sidewalks. The people may be singing, playing the violin or doing other entertaining work. It's so amazing to see people with so much talent. It's interesting that there are performers in lots of big cities all around the world.

Interesting aspects of Belgian culture that I've learned so far about are their strict recycling rules and their history of beer production! Beer culture is so important here that it has been added to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's Lists of Intangible Cultural Heritage. This organization is better known as UNESCO, and they also have lists of the world's most significant environmental and cultural wonders. Breweries, where beer is made, have been operating in some way in Belgium for at least eight centuries!
