I traveled around the main city, Horta, to go to work. I also went to Pico, which is the island right next to Faial. I spent the weekend there to look at artwork and see nature!
I have traveled about 7,350 miles so far! To fly from California to Horta was over 5,000 miles. I then went to Lisbon, the capital of Portugal which is on the mainland near the rest of Europe. That round trip added more than 2,000 miles. All in all, my trip so far has been as long as driving from Folsom to Disneyland and back 8 or 9 times!
This week I took the bus and walked. Normally I take the bus to work, which takes about 20 minutes. If I want to go to the beach or grocery store, I just walk because they are so close. Taking the bus and walking are the best ways to get around the island. I also took a ferry this week, to go to Pico, the closest island to me. The ferry only takes 30 minutes to get there.
